Following a July 24, 2025 public hearing held by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) that examined widespread human rights and refugee law violations inflicted by the U.S. government, a coalition of immigrants’ rights organizations that participated in the hearing submitted a follow-up report to the Commission this week.

Filed October 14, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the lawsuit challenges a dehumanizing, unjust, and illegal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) policy issued in early 2025 that, for the first time in decades,  enables the widespread jailing and deportation of immigrant survivors.

After rejecting the federal government’s efforts to terminate the Flores Settlement Agreement last Friday, a federal court on Monday reaffirmed that the government remains legally obligated to promptly process, transfer, and release immigrant children as expeditiously as possible.

In a major victory for the rights and dignity of immigrant children, on Friday, Aug. 15, a federal court struck down the federal government’s latest bid to end the Flores Settlement Agreement.
