About the event

Throughout the world, individuals living with disabilities are often discriminated against and targeted for mistreatment because of their disabilities. Unfortunately, for individuals persecuted on account of their disability, arguing an asylum claim in the U.S. can be particularly difficult. There are unique challenges to defining disability-based particular social groups, and even when this is done successfully, additional challenges are often presented in showing that the harm is on account of the individual's disability and that it is more than just "commonplace" discrimination. Join us to learn about the evolution of disability-based asylum claims and how practitioners can better argue such claims.
